Easy Bulky Knit Scarf or Infinity Scarf
When I teach people how to knit, I like to start with this easy bulky knit scarf. It's super simple, and only involves one stitch-the knit stitch/garter stitch. I usually don't teach new knitters the purl stitch until after they are comfortable with the knit stitch. This scarf is knit on large knitting needles, and with size 6 super bulky yarn. The scarf knits up fast which helps new knitters build confidence. If you leave a long tail, you can sew the seems together when you're done to create an adorable infinity scarf! I like to wrap it around twice for extra warmth. The garter stitch ridge gives it a wonderful texture. A benefit of an infinity scarf, is that you don't have to worry about it falling off. You can customize this scarf and make it wider or narrower by adding more or less stitches. If you opt for a longer or wider scarf you will probably need more yarn.
- Size 6 Super Bulky Yarn. I used 1 skein of Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick-for a wider/longer scarf or if you are adding fringe-plan for 2 skeins.
- Size 15 Knitting Needles or needles needed to obtain gauge
- Tapestry Needle
Gauge: 2 Stitches = 1 Inch (10 Stitches = Five Inches)
Cast on 10 stitches.
Knit every row until desired length.
That's it! Easy! You have options! Fringe can be added to add pizzazz. You can turn this scarf into an infinity scarf by sewing both ends together. You could knit it wider and shorter and make a cowl. The choices are yours! Weave in loose ends.
I hope you enjoy the ease and simplicity of this bulky knit scarf. Please visit The Yarn Bucket on Facebook.
